Benjamin Weidknecht and Marie Weidknecht who came from Mulhouse, Alsace, France via Paris in 1869 to Peoria, Illinois. Their issue: Julius, Edward and Lucy. They moved to Nebraska in 1882.
Julius Weidknecht's son Mr. AJ Weidknecht lives at 6519 Near Ave., Bell, Calif. He is 88 years old and is a retired doctor. He has several sons and daughters who live in Downey, Calif. He said he came to California in 1902 and that some members of his Weidknecht family had changed thename to "Wagner".
Also I found the following in 1850 census of Ottawa, La Salle Co. Illinois when I was searching for some other records:
Chas. Weidknecht, age 48, laborer from France (born 1802)
Chas. Weidknecht Jr., age 17, from France (born 1833)
Margaret Molvick, age 70 living with the family who also was from France.
