About 22-May-1857 Israel Evans (6th H.C. Co.) 149 28 hc 11-12-Sep-1857 No official roster.

A roster of sorts has been discovered for the Israel Evans company.

The entry at the top of the roster was "List of Emigrants Shipped by
Orson Pratt Liverpool, for the Ship "Geo Washington" March 27/57
intending to Cross the Plains by Hand Carts this Season".

This list was probably done in March of 1857 of those who traveled on the ship,
George Washington
and had intended to travel by handcart and the list has 154 names,
which comes close to the total of the company, which was composed of English,
Scottish, Welsh and Swiss migrants.   Some names of those known to be in this company
are in this list.

The list is not complete in some believed to be in the company are not mentioned, but
then again one family who were thought to be in the company, the Brightons came to America
earlier on the Clara Wheeler in 1854 and were not mentioned since this list has only those from
the George Washington who were to go by handcart.  The other handcart companies in 1857
were primarily Scandinavian and they came over on the ship Westmoreland.

From Our Pioneer Heritage Vol. 12
April 25th [1857] The Westmoreland sailed from Liverpool, England, with 544 Saints, mostly Scandinavians, under the direction of Matthias Cowley. It arrived at Philadelphia May 31st. The emigrants reached Iowa City by rail June 9th.

See the Westmoreland  roster for names of those who may have traveled in this company.  Although it seems that some went with the Christian Christiansen hand cart company.
