I currently have no information on Hugh and Mary before they came to America. It is possible that Hugh's father is Isaac Doherty and that he had a brother named John.

Hugh Daugherty and Mary Blaine are the parents of the following children:

  2. William Daugherty. William was born in 1802 and died 3 Jun 1855. He married Susan Christ.(6)
  3. Martha Daugherty. Martha was born in 1803 in Pennsylvania. On 23 Aug 1821 she married John Weaver. John was born in 1799 in Pennsylvania, and was listed as a boatman in Saltsburg in 1850. Martha and John had 10 children. Martha died 2 Jun 1865.(7)
  4. Hugh Daugherty. Hugh Jr. was born in 1804 and died in 1890. He married Margaret Jane Waddel, and living in Saltsburg in 1880.(8)
  5. Margaret B. Daugherty. Margaret was born in 1809 in Pennsylvania. On 18 Mar 1830 she married Joseph Walkinshaw. Margaret and Joseph had five children, four girls and one boy.(9) Margaret died 22 Jul 1887 in Saltsburg.(10)
  6. Mary Jane (Jennie) Daugherty. Jennie was born between 1810 and 1812 in Pennsylvania. on 5 Jun 1832 she married David B. Weaver. David was born 21 Aug 1808 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. They were living in Westmoreland county in 1850, and raise a family of 7 girls and 2 boys.(11) Jennie died in 1852.(12) David remarried in Feb 1854 to Mary A. Benford.(13)
  7. James Robinson Daugherty. James (JR) was born 16 Nov 1813 in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania. On 6 Jun 1839 he married Mary Ann Hart, great-granddaughter of John Hart, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Mary was born in 1820 in Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Mary and JR raised a family of eight, 6 boys and 2 girls. JR had many occupations including: carpenter's apprentice (1831), ferry operator (1836), eating house owner/operator (1852), planing mill owner/operator (1866-1873, 1875 on). Most notably, he was elected as county sheriff twice, once from 1863-1866 and again from 1873-1875. He was a Presbyterian by religion and a Republican in politics. JR died 29 Oct 1893 in Indiana, Pennsylvania (home of Jimmy Stewart) and is buried in Greenwood Cemetary. Mary died 6 Sep 1897 in Indiana and is also buried in Greeenwood Cemetary.(14)
  8. Daniel K. Daugherty. Daniel was born in 1817 in Pennsylvania. in 1844 he married Jane C. Henderson, who was born in 1819, also in Pennsylvania. Daniel and Jane lived in Saltsburg, and he is listed as a carpenter from 1850 to 1860.(15)
