Dates we were there: 7/9/99
Our visit to Washington D.C. was definitely too short!
We knew it would be but with a trip like this, nothing can be as long as it needs
to be.
We came to the capital city on the morning of the 9th after stopping for a short while in Gaithersburg, Maryland at Allison & Shane's at the end of our marathon drive. We came in on the subway
(the only way to go!) and made visits to the places listed below, in the order listed, up
to the Capital. It was a very hot day and by the time we got to the Capital
Building, we were so exhausted that we didn't even want to walk around to the front!
Our two longest visits were Ford's Theatre and The Air and Space Museum.
After a very long day, we headed back to Allison & Shane's for a little rest and
dinner.
That evening, we drove in to the city following Allison & Shane and
visited the rest of the sites listed. It was fun to see these places at night
(especially because it was much cooler!). The crowds were not too bad and we were
able to get to all of them fairly quickly because they knew where they were going.
It was, as I said before, way too short of a visit but we felt
satisfied with what we were able to see in that short time.
