The table below shows the dimensions required for specimen blanks required for fracture toughness testing per ASTM E 1304. These specimen blanks may be prepared by the customer or DCI will machine these blanks for a fee. Note that the orientation of the grip groove in these specimen blanks is critical. The grip groove must be parallel to the plane in which fracture toughness is to be measured. Additional specimen preparation, including machining the chevron slot required in the test specimen is included as part of the testing procedures performed by DCI.
