Gene Barry
Brings His Cabaret Act to the Big Apple
July 20 - 31, 1999

Gene Barry returned to New York City for a 2-week engagement in the famous Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel, much to the delight of his many fans who filled the cabaret each evening.  His relaxed song-talk-dance performance was a musical mini-biography, beginning with his early years on the New York stage and reminiscing  with songs and anecdotes to his role in the award-winning Broadway hit, La Cage aux folles.

There could have been no greater thrill for Nan than to attend one of the performances and meet the actor for the first time.  "He is a most gracious gentleman with a flair for making his fans feel comfortable and appreciated. His distinctive style of delivery has not diminished over the years and he seemed to enjoy the memories of his long and successful career as much as did his admiring audience."

Later, the two sat down together and talked about the Gene Barry Fan Page, which he has found "amazing," then posed for this photograph.
