Thursday April 18th 1428 Imperial Calendar
With night upon the adventurers it was imperative to secure shelter for the night. Clearing the fortified shelter was a simple matter of opening the doors that concealed dusty rooms and petrified candles. Soon the ancient hearth of the common room was ablaze with a welcome fire.
That evening Enzo appeared agitated and slightly withdrawn. Something of consequence was weighing on him. As the others gathered around the fire reminiscing and raising a glass to Sullivan Enzo and Casper exchanged words in the courtyard. Casper eventually returned to the fire, but just long enough to get Calais' attention.
After several rounds of Vorseman spirits the party adjourned for the evening. The conversations of the evening were kept close to the vest. Calais too seemed to wear the weight Enzo had carried these past days. Calais' restlessness kept him up and on watch for hours past his scheduled rotation. A dark tide was washing in, for the night only three felt the tide rising.
In the early morning hours Enzo was looking out the Arrow slits of the fortification. His watch had been quiet, but he knew that would change. Late evening the day prior he had approached Casper. Enzo explained to the wizard that he needed to travel to Eldred’s Cross for a short trip. Enzo cloaked his intentions for the journey until it was clear that the wizard would not comply without full disclosure of Enzo's intentions. Misreading Casper’s sarcasm for neutrality. Enzo disclosed the evil nature of his journey. Unwilling to be an accomplice to the slaying of an innocent removed him for Enzo’s list of viable options.
Ever desirous to please, Lilith had offered to fill the need the wizard had rejected. He stood now awaiting her return. Her intoxicating fragrance enveloped Enzo as she slid her fingers up his chest from behind. Her gift to him was waiting in the courtyard. A fourteen-year-old boy from Eldred's Cross stood in the courtyard enthralled and awaiting a dire fate.
The weight of the decision was now fully bearing on Enzo. Here was the moment of truth. Could he play the devil and kill an innocent boy, or would he face the loss of power or worse that awaited him for rejecting the amulets desire. Resigned to let the boy go and face an uncertain future, he instructed Lilith to return the boy to his home.

Even though the stakes have changed. I will see this through. I suppose its too late to second guess our situation or obligation.

Friday April 19th 1428 Imperial Calendar
Morning dawned oblivious to the night’s turmoil. While Mouse was relieving himself outside the fortified shelter a noise form the chapel roof caught his attention. Another harpy! Mutual surprise found both scrambling for options. The harpy departed hastily. Whatever killed the mountain troll was more than she wanted to tangle with. Casper attempted to bring her down with a spell, but the enchantment failed.
It would now be a matter of eight hours before the army below could send someone to fortify the position. Time too was becoming the enemy. With that, the adventurers pushed past the ancient door of the abbey of Saint Rose.
Inside the dark halls whispers of some unearthly malevolence still clung to the stale air.
The walls bore the images of female warriors. The images of the Madrigala were unmistakable. Further investigation revealed the rooms here were once the sanctified halls of the revered female paladin order. After recovering several artifacts and dispatching a gibbering mouther. They moved out onto the great balcony. A torch dropped from the banister revealed a great hall descending to the level of the valley floor. |
