Chronicle for July 1st 2008

Friday April 19th 1428 Imperial Calendar

The cold damp halls of the ancient abbey offered little comfort to the visiting members of the expedition. A brief inspection of the doors off the main hall revealed that they were not the first to breach the back door. Electing to wait before mixing it up with the other would-be explorers. The group moved back to the hall where they had entombed the Jibbering Mouther in a wall of stone. Crossing over the improvised work of the wizard, they were greeted by a view of an enormous towering chamber. The large conical room stretched high overhead and descended onto misty darkness below. Ancient magic backlit the radiant falls in an awesome display of engineering. A ramp spiraled downward along the northern wall disappearing into the darkness below. Electing to try to find a way to the lower levels the party followed the ramp.

The falls emptied into great basins that channeled the water further down. A tunnel connected the ramp to the far side of the bowl. Emerging on the far side of the tunnel the group spotted a second tunnel allowing access to the continuation of the downward ramp.

In that moment the air around them caught fire. Lungs scorched with the incoming firestorm. Badly burned many of the group retreated back. Other took shelter in the tunnel ahead.

Out in the misty darkness a nightmare was forming. Repeated attacks from beyond the veil of mist pummeled the group. Unable too see the source of the spells the party desperately attempted to find it. Eventually their attacker was spotted. Hovering out in the mist, the serpentine creature could not be reached for melee. Celeste tried using her ability to detect evil to keep track of its location. When no evil was detected it was cause for concern and wonder. Mouse, using the glasses of true seeing, was finally able to see the truth of it. The bone naga was invisible, floating some distance away from the image that was casting the spells. Unable to effect the naga, Mouse sprinted across the opening to give the glasses to Casper. Able to see the naga now he unleashed a battery of spells against her. Only to have her counter his attack with a spell meant to obliterate thought.
Unable to resist the spell Casper surrendered reason for madness. Acting quickly his comrades pulled him from danger.

In a fighting retreat the party fell back to the tunnel opening where Silverhawk had been scouting. With some assistance she cleared the hall of the gibbering mouther. Now in full retreat the party withdrew down the corridor. The bone naga sought to divide the group with a wall of ice. Corman, acting to bring down the wall with strikes from his great weapon was unable to break through the icy divide. The naga seeing the cleric exposed in the hall unleashed firey rays on him. Leaving a smoking corpse in his place. Celeste sprinted down the hall to claim his body and retreated to the safety of the hall.  Enzo wass trapped on the other side of the hall from the party. Thinking quickly and mindful of the threat from the hall he used his acid breath the burn through the ice wall. Managing to open a hole he stepped through an joined Celeste and the others in a defensive position at the opening of the hall.

Corman! Corman! No, it can't be. Celeste isn't there somthing that can be done. And what of Casper? Allhe does is mumble and drool. Gods, this is bad. Mouse get back here! this is no time to be running off. Rrrrr,
