Katai is proud to be a Crane. Not only that he is a Kakita and seeks perfection in all that he does as a Crane. To even think that he could be compared to a Scorpion was anathema to him. Practicing the Crane Kata was a sure way to abait one's anger. Earlier that day Seppun Nikana commented that Katai was more like a Scorpion than a Crane.
Spending a month or more at Shiro sano Kakita was more than enough to clear Katai's mind and refocus him on the future and his duty. He was no longer angry with Seppun Nikana, and he was looking forward to his future. Things would be better. And he was positive that he would be working with his old companions again.
