A dictionary definition.
Netscape, Gold 3.0, by way of windows cut and past was not able to, cut and past the soft and hard vowel accents as the dictionary had them is like such: ( d¹s-lµk"s¶-…). They have always looked as foreign to me and Bill Gates has NOT translated them any better.
Is it not interesting that the authoritative
source of knowledge, the dictionary, uses a language all it's
own to explain how to pronounce words such as Dyslexia, with the
curved and flat lines over the e's. It ironically has the upside-down
"e". Not only would a person that is dyslexic be looking
under "dislecksick", but if they did find it, they would
be confronted with the 2nd word, being in a pseudo foreign language
but with 250 words, with a Flesch grade level of 12 and a Flesch
reading Ease Score of 51.2. If they bothered to read to the end
of the whole thing.

So of course you skip to the bottom line which is "from Greek logos , speech, word, reason. [ Pokorny le ª- 658.. ]"
Well if you thought that logos were building blocks, your wrong. Instead there are 390 words to that definition, and it is on a Flesch 14 grade reading scale.
"Logos" starts out:
"Philosophy a. In pre-Socratic philosophy, the principle governing the cosmos, the source of this principle, or human reasoning about the cosmos. b. Among the Sophists, the topics of rational argument or the arguments themselves. c. In Stoicism, the active, material, rational principle of the cosmos; nous. Identified with God, it is the source of all activity and generation and is the power of reason residing in the human soul."
Still not rocket science, but not the easiest way for someone with a leaning disability to learn what they got. So what does "logos" have to do with "Dyslexia" good question! Don't ask me, I didn't write the Dictionary.
The bottom line on logos, is the same as dyslexia, "from Greek logos , speech, word, reason. [ Pokorny le ª- 658.]". I don't know who this Porkorny guy is that lived in 658, but apparently he was the Daniel Webster of his day, and could confound communication with the best of them.
Now my understanding or definition of dyslexia is the transposition of numbers, either reading them or writing them, and the transposition of letters in a word when read or written down, or even the swapping or omission of words in a sentence when read or when down.
Now by this definition, all of us has experienced dyslexia, especially with long phone numbers etc. Now the difference from a dyslexic person and a person that is not classified as dyslectic, is the frequency and severity of these hand-eye, ear-mouth or eye-hand momentary glitches in the flow of input and output to the brain.
Now these glitches in communication inside the brain can be so brief, but so frequent, as to be undetectable and as normal, as the 'almost' un-perceptible flicker of florescent lights. I believe that this difference in memory functionality is not a sign of lack of intelligence or brain activity, but a side effect of hyper brain activity. To the extent that communication channels in the brain are flooded with information, as the mind flies off on tangents and past thoughts as each letter is processed. That the main flow and process of reading one word, can get side tracked on the Internet of the mind and each packet, delivered to the brain, has encapsulated with it, stories, personalities, and experiences associates with that letter of the alphabet. In so doing some packets may get delivered out of sequence, as the brains of hyper intelligent individuals process situational information related to each letter of a given word.
The problem is that in our society, from Grade one through a Ph.D.. has always had given deference, to the written presentation of the message, over the messages content.
Obviously if your job is to key in deposits from checks into the Accounting system, the transposition of numbers within a value, is critical, the fact that you placed it in the correct credit/debit field, is not close enough. Thus the differences between being an average Joe and a person with hyper brain activity, is frequency and intensity of glitches and the consequences if any for such is sometimes overlooked depending on the frequency and intensity.
On a related subject is the definition of Dysgrapia. I used to write my lower case B's backwards, when in 1st or second grade. To distinguish the proper direction, since there was no logical, empirical, religious or social reason why "b" pointed one direction and "d" pointed the other, I devised a method where in the lower case "b" pointed the same direction as the upper case "b". It would have been helpful to have grade school teachers help devise such strategies for me, since the upper case "D" also points in the same directions as the upper case "B". Being young and not wanting to get further behind in school, I stuck with this trick, but I had to add a caveat, that the upper case "B" had as it's lower half, ignoring the upper right hand corner, the lower case letter "b". Now the only trick to this "patched" trick, is that one must never confuse "D" and "B".
Now quickly, how many letter have their lower case equivalent exactly embodied within the frame work of there upper case counterparts?
Now of those letters that don't, why is that?
Why does the lower case "d" point in one directions and the upper case "D" does not?
So why is the only difference between "O" and "o", size and the difference between ""Q" and 'q' and "G" and "g" worlds apart. Now take the fist letter that you learn "A" and compare it to "a" and there is nothing graphically about the two that are similar. The upper case "A" is all angles verses the lower which is all curves.
The letter "A" is one of the more commonly used letters, yet the most uncommon letters x, y, and z, the only difference is size.
Who thought up this mad system?
In first grade did any of these thought cross your mind? And where did my critical thinking get me? The bottom of the bell curve, where it was thought I belonged. I experienced early, that authority is more important than logic. Notice I didn't say learn.

Oh great, if I write my upper case "D" the same direction pointing to the left, as I do my lower case "d", now I'm brain damaged or diseased! Well Noah, if you are such a brainyack why didn't you propose a new symbol for the number "0" so as not to get confused with the letter "O".
Although I have written privately to fiends about the dyslexia and the heart break of trapositia, I have not yet completed public writing on this personal subject.
