Tuesday, July 12, 2005 “Cedar Point Smeeder Doint”

"I wrote the following last night:

'No Internet access tonight except in the lobby of the hotel. I could try to make if down to try but Mom’s laptop is so power hungry I doubt I’d make it down there before the fully charged battery went dead ;-)

Well we did all the sights in Kirtland today and made a trip to Hyrum to see the Johnson farm. The Church has done a fantastic job at restoring old Kirtland, the Morley Farm, and the Johnson Farm. We also toured courtesy of the Community of Christ church, the Kirtland temple building.

James asked me today if we couldn’t just get in the car, drive 20 hours, and be home. ;-) These young people have no stamina. I guess the ‘grave digging’ yesterday and with more of the ‘Parade of Homes of 1835’ today, he’s getting pretty saturated.

But take heart, tonight we find ourselves in Sandusky Ohio ready for the two boys to do Cedar Point tomorrow. But for Barb and I it looks like instead of looking for lighthouses, in the morning at least, we get to do laundry ;-(

After tomorrow’s adventures, and a night’s stay just south of Chicago , we turn south to revisit Nauvoo (where we will have no internet service either) . . . so I’m hoping for access in Chicago at least.'

Obviously, I’m in the hotel lobby. Dropped the boys off at Cedar Point and they walked in when it opened at 9:00 a.m. Mom and I are rushing to do laundry and load the car by 11:00 check-out time. The boys claim they can tough it out until 6:00 tonight . . . we’ll see ;-) Lots of high, high roller coasters and other devices to torment and torture the braver (or more foolish) of the human race."

The Kirtland Temple, and the Whitney Store in Old Kirtland.

NEXT:  On to the next message of the trip . . .
