M. Neeley 2/9/30 ~ 4/1/03 Parley M. (Pat) Neeley, beloved
husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 1, 2003 at his home
in Orem, Utah, following a brave battle with cancer.-He was 73. Born
in Salt Lake City, on February 9, 1930, to Parley Rhead and Josephine
Mitchell Neeley and married his high school sweetheart, Rowena Killian,
Sept. 10, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. After graduating from
the University of Utah in 1952 as a Civil Engineer, he worked as a Design
Engineer for Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles, then later as an Engineer
for the Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado, as an Engineer for Geneva
Steel, and finally, in 1956, started his own engineering and surveying
firms -- Neeley Engineering and Surveying Associates - to become a
prominent consulting Engineer with a long, and distinguished, career. He
enjoyed the opportunity to work with his sons and daughters and
grandchildren in his business - being in the outdoors and surveying the
land. He was a founder of the city of Woodland Hills, Utah and served as
its Mayor for a time and on its City Council for a number of years. He was
also a founder, and Vice President, of Far West Bank. He loved
airplanes and flying. He was a commissioned Captain in the United States
Air Force and, in his younger years, a private pilot. He loved to
serve the Lord, teaching others about the Gospel, serving on the High
Council for a number of years, working in the temple, and also fulfilling
a mission, with his wife, to the Michigan Lansing Mission. He loved his
family and nurtured and cared for them throughout his life -- taking many
trips to Lake Powell, Disneyland and wherever you can take a contingent of
30 or 40 children, spouses, grandchildren, etc. He is survived by
his wife, Rowena, two sons, and three daughters, Sharon Elizabeth (Phil)
Hardy, Spanish Fork; Parley Stephen (Barbara), North Ogden; Craig Glen,
Salt Lake City; Allyson (Lynn) Hawkins, Spanish Fork; Patricia (Duane)
May, Logandale, Nevada; and by 20 grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David
(Gloria) Neeley of North Ogden, and a sister, Barbara (Jerry) Elison of
Orem Utah. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nicole
May, who greeted him on the other side. We, as a family, express our
special thanks to the many people who helped care for him, especially his
granddaughters Heather Allred and Amie Cook. Funeral services
will be held Monday, April 7th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Orem Sharon Park 1st
Ward Chapel, 310 N. 100 E., Orem, Utah. Friends and family may call
at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N., Orem, Utah, on Sunday
April 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. or from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the
funeral services at the church. Interment will be at the Salem City
