That she has no intention of fostering a recall against Mayor Davis as the result of his efforts to abolish the Woman's Protective bureau of which she is secretary, was stated today by Mrs. Beatrice McCall Whitnah who added that despite her attitude her friends are still discussing the matter. In expressing her stand in the case, Mrs. Whitnah said:
ISSUES STATEMENT.
"I want to deny that I personally would foster a recall in the city of Oakland even to preserve ot the city the Woman's Protective bureau. I would cost too much money and I would rather that that money would be spent in constructive work for the benefit of the people.
"That a scurrilous attack was made upon me in the city council on Monday and that these people were permitted to talk while my friends were insulted and cut off by the mayor, does not at all surprise me, as these attacks have emanated from the mayour's friends for the last two years. His attituded toward my bureau has been precisely that of unwarranted, violent prejudice, while he has refused to investigate the real work of the bureau."
