DESCRIPTION

    The XC-IO96 is the programmable digital I/O expansion module for the XCI mother board (PI-IO48 or XU-i088).

    This module is equipped with two 82c255 programmable digital I/O controllers, each 82c255 provides 48 programmable digital I/Os, which gives the XC-IO96 a total of 96 digital I/Os. They are divided into twelve 8-bit ports; each port can be programmed as input or output. This module can be connected to the J1 expansion connector of the PI-IO48 or XU-i088 card. Up to 7 XC-IO96s, can be connected to a single PI-IO48/XU-i088 to yield up to 720/696 digital I/Os.

    The 82c255 is a general purpose programmable I/O. It is compatible with the 8255 programmable I/O. The 82c255 is equivalent to two 8255s. It has 48 I/O lines which may be individually programmed in 6 groups of 8 or 4 groups of 12 and used in 3 major modes of operation. The XC-IO96 provides two 82c255s that, in total, provides 12 groups of 8 I/O lines. There are also 12 LEDs to monitor the status of D0 of each port.

    CON1 to CON12 each refers to one group of 8, they are designed as XDI interfaces and have the capability to connect to the isolated I/O expansion module. (Eg. photo-coupled input, reed-relay and solid-state relay output).

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

    XCI expansion module connecter - The Expansion Control Interface (XCI) is designed for the future expansion of the XCI mother board (PI-IO48 or XU-i088). The XCI mother board (PI-IO48 or XU-i088) has the capacity to be connected to up to seven XCI daughter boards using the XCI bus.

    A user simply plugs the XCI cable into the 40 pin dual-in-line box header connecter on XCI mother board (PI-IO48 or XU-i088) and the 40 pin plug connecter of daughter cards (XC-DA12). Please note that the XCI cable for PI-IO48(A) and XU-i088(A) is different.

    The XCI daughter cards (XC-IO96, XC-AD12 and XC-DA12) are connected to the XCI mother board (PI-IO48) by a 2 feet XCI cable that is supplied with XCI mother board (PI-IO48 or XU-i088).

    82C255 Digital I/O - The XC-IO96 features 496digital I/O lines that are divided into tweleve 8-bit ports. Each port can be programmed as either input or output.

    Expansion Data I/F (XDI) option products - All digital I/Os are configured as Expansion Data Interface (XDI). A variety of isolated I/O expansion boards are available.

      XI-PI08 - This 8 channel Photo-Coupled input expansion board is for the PI-IO48A, XU-i088A, PA-CP12, PA-ST12, PA-MA12 or any other digital I/Os (XDI). On board screw terminal blocks provide convenient connection to signal wires.

      XI-IM04 - This 4 channel AC/DC input module expansion board is for the PI-IO48A or any other digital I/Os. Two boards can be paired to provide 8 channels. On board screw terminal blocks are convenient for connecting signal wires.

      XO-RR08 - This 8 channel Reed-Relay output expansion board is for the PI-IO48A, XU-i088A, PA-CP12, PA-ST12, PA-MA12 or any other digital I/Os (XDI). On board screw terminal blocks provide a convenient medium to wire signals.

      XO-SRA4/XO-SRD4 - This 4 channel AC/DC solid state relay (SSR) expansion board is for digital I/O (XDI) expansion. Two XO-SRx4s can be paired to provide 8 channels. The on board screw terminal is a convenient way of connecting signal wires.

      ST-XD02 - This screw terminal and prototype board is for the PI-IO48A, XU-i088A, PA-CP12 or any other digital I/Os (XDI). It provides a convenient medium for connecting signals to/from the digital I/Os.
