 Hello I am Dr Al- Assaad Mohammed a citizen of Malaysia, Some years back, i 
invested some amount of money in the USA and it has yielded some good 
interest which is due payment. For some time now I have not be able to make 
any long distance travel because of my health, so i wanted my investment 
money back as i cannot continue due to my health and fund transferred to my 
account by Swift, but the Investors insist, they cannot transfer the funds to 
any bank account outside United State due to their new company policy 
triggered by the prevailing economic meltdown. Meanwhile, I wanted to travel 
to the USA to get the funds myself but my doctor advised against it, that due 
to my present state of health I cannot make such a long distance trip.So I 
was told to provide someone in the United State to receive the funds on my 
behalf. Please let me know if you can handle the funds on my behalf and 
forward to me. Sincerely, you are not going to face any risk in rendering 
assistance, or spend any money or demand anything from you.You shall be 
entitle to 10% of the money you receive and forward me the balance 90% 
WITHOUT YOU SPENDING A SINGLE CENT FROM YOUR END. Let me know if you can 
handle this so that i forward you the contact information of the investor and 
make arrangement on how to receive the funds. Thank You and special regards.

The above is the actual scammer email received. It has been scrubbed of recipient information.
If you received an email like this you have several choices.

Ignore the scammer. Do not respond to emails. Just delete them.
Respond, but only to lead the scammer on--to get a counterfeit check, to report stolen credit card numbers, and to waste the scammer's time. Time spent trying to scam you is time not spent scamming someone else.
Report the scammer to us and we'll post their emails so others will know about that scammer.

Whichever option you choose make sure you do the following:

DO NOT educate the scammer in any way. Educating a scammer makes them better at scamming the next person.
DO NOT let the scammer know that YOU KNOW they are a scammer. The scammer will always be nice to you if they think there's a chance they may still be able to scam you. If they know they've been discovered they will often threaten you. Their threats are empty, but are scary to some people.
DO NOT give the scammer any personal information that they cannot find in a phone book (name, address, and phone.) Feel free to give them lots of incorrect information.
