INVESTMENT INQUIRY

Dear Friend

As I stated above, my name is, Mr. Martin Savimbi. I am a stepson of the
former Angolan PRESIDENT, late Dr. Jonas Savimbi. My mother and I are
interested in relocating to your country,and venturing all of our funds in
excess of some US$30M, in your line of business, and under your auspices.

All funds having being earmarked for the purchase of arms in South Africa,
and accrued from the sales of precious stones. But since the war has ended,
we have decided to keep the funds and use the funds for our personal
purpose. The funds are presently in the custody of a private depository
firm here in South Africa due to our personal security and the funds on our
arrival in South Africa immediately.

You are in position of 20% for all your anticipated assistance by the time
the funds are successfully lodged in your nominated accounts overseas. But
first of all we need to know you more, and also we would need to move the
funds out and of course ourselves out of South Africa as soon as we can
possibly arrange that to be.My mother and I have carefully worked out the
modalities for the eventual transfer. You are to participate as our foreign
partner in the scheme of arrangement.

The above is the actual scammer email received. It has been scrubbed of recipient information.
If you received an email like this you have several choices.

Ignore the scammer. Do not respond to emails. Just delete them.
Respond, but only to lead the scammer on--to get a counterfeit check, to report stolen credit card numbers, and to waste the scammer's time. Time spent trying to scam you is time not spent scamming someone else.
Report the scammer to us and we'll post their emails so others will know about that scammer.

Whichever option you choose make sure you do the following:

DO NOT educate the scammer in any way. Educating a scammer makes them better at scamming the next person.
DO NOT let the scammer know that YOU KNOW they are a scammer. The scammer will always be nice to you if they think there's a chance they may still be able to scam you. If they know they've been discovered they will often threaten you. Their threats are empty, but are scary to some people.
DO NOT give the scammer any personal information that they cannot find in a phone book (name, address, and phone.) Feel free to give them lots of incorrect information.
