If you're like me you don't work with resistors often enough to have the color codes memorized. Here's a chart to help you identify resistors. 
           Bands
    Color  1 2       3        4*
    black  0 0           1
    brown  1 1          10
    red    2 2         100
    orange 3 3       1,000
    yellow 4 4      10,000
    green  5 5     100,000
    blue   6 6   1,000,000
    violet 7 7  10,000,000
    gray   8 8 100,000,000
    white  9 9     n/a
    gold                   ±  5%
    silver                 ± 10%
    none                   ± 20%

*Band 4 is optional and is used to indicate
tolerance.
For example a resistor with red, blue, orange bands (in that order) is a 26 x 1000 = 26K ohm resistor with 20% tolerance.
