Early Gottlieb flipper buttons are metal and directly contact the flipper
switches on the playfield through hinged wires. Sometimes the fishpaper
insulator breaks off or wears out and the player gets shocked by touching
the flipper button and any of the machine's metal trim. To correctly solve
this use fishpaper and an extra switch blade on the affected side. DO
NOT connect the extra switch blade to any wiring. It is there to
provide a durable contact for the switch wire. It is insulated from the
circuit by the fishpaper.
If you don't want to go to this much work, a quick fix to the problem is to
use shrink-tubing or just fold electrical tape over the hinging flipper
wire.
