A useful tool for debugging continuity problems is a long (6') jumper wire
with alligator clips at each end. This is useful for determining where in
a circuit the break exists by jumping over the problem part of the circuit
and progressively reducing the jumped part until the problem part is
isolated. This technique has helped find many cold-solder joints and loose
contact points. This technique is useful for both solid state and
electromechanical machines.
