Most dim bulbs can be traced to the socket having a poor connection between
the socket and the bracket. A drop of solder between the two fixes this
problem. The area can be prepped for soldering using flux or a small
file.
Another reason for dim bulbs is a dirty socket. The inside can be easily
and quickly cleaned using a socket cleaner stick available from several
suppliers.
If the socket itself does not grip the bulb tightly, just use some pliers, or
an awl (if the socket is deeply recessed) to slightly deform the socket so
that it will grip the lamp base tightly.
