Moisture is the big reason many backglasses have flaking. This moisture can
come from many sources. The most common source is from condensation. This
most often comes from moving a cold game into a warm house. To avoid this
keep the game warm, or let it warm up gradually, in stages.
Note that condensation can come from other sources as well. I know one
individual that removed his backglass on his 50s game and laid it, ink-side
down, on the grass while he worked on the game. The moisture from the grass
lifted about 20% of the ink from what used to be a perfect glass. Also,
keep the game away from dryer vents, hot tubs, and other heavy producers of
water vapor.
