Mr. Pinball Tip:

The best way I have found to clean gold plated (gold flashed) contacts is to pass a strip of felt between them while applying presure to the contacts. I personaly use pool table cloth. The wool is harsh enough to scrape off the crud but is easy on the gold. Keep in mind that what ever you use, use it carefully. The gold plating is very very thin, too harsh of a cleaning with anything will remove the gold. I have yet to see a contact cleaner spray that works for these types of contacts. Never ever use a spray that contains silicone or any lubricant! IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS LATER! Make sure that the contact itself is not loose and is firmly pressed onto the blade. I have found this to be the problem 100's of times. I use a smooth jawed needle nose pliers to re-crimp the loose contact onto the blade again.
