Coin chutes and mechanisms usually fail because of dirt or debris. Not very
often does a mechanism fail because of lubrication. Pull out the mechanisms
and test them by running coins through them. If the mechanism doesn't work,
check that you're using the right coin denomination and open up the
mechanism and check for stuck coins, slugs, and other debris. See that all
the moving parts move freely. You shouldn't need to make adjustments with
screws and so on to get it to work properly. Most mechanisms are relatively
inexpensive (less than $10.00) so if you can't easily get one to work, get
another that does.
