If someone painted over the original cabinet artwork with a latex or enamel
solid-color paint, you can usually see the patterns through the paint by
using a spot or flashlight at a very sharp angle in a dark room. This
reveals the subtle thickness differences in the underlying original
stenciled images. This is usually just enough so you can trace the outlines
with a pencil and restore the original cabinet artwork design.
