Often, leg levelers on an older machine are rusted nearly solid to the
legs. Heating them with a torch is one method of removing them, but I have
found a product that works just as well without all the work. Liquid Wrench
spray by Gunk is available at any hardware store. A better penetrant than
WD-40, it rarely takes more than a single spray to free up even the most
rusted bolts. Once applied, just clamp the leg securely and twist the
leveler out with a large pair of channel-lock pliers.
