Place a 3 to 5 inch piece of small-diameter heat-shrink tubing
over the free end of your solder roll. If necessary, shrink the
front tip to ensure that the tubing will stay put, and that you
still have good control of your solder. As you solder, simply slide
the tubing down to access solder further down the roll.
Adding tubing will help ensure that you can always find the beginning
of your solder roll. It also keeps your hands from contact with the
poisonous lead in the solder.
Always wear safety glasses when you solder, and remember to
wash your hands after you're done to remove the toxic fume
residue; this is especially important prior to eating or smoking.
