Need to remove solder from a PC board? Don't have any of that fancy
desoldering braid? Here's what I have been doing for over 26 years. Find
some old cable wire RG59 with copper shield, cut a piece about 12 inches
long, remove the outside cover, pull the braided wire off the center
conductor, dip the braid as you use it in a can of solder flux paste (found
at local hardware store), use soldering gun and braid to suck up solder from
PC board and from around parts so they can be removed easily. Use alcohol
and Q-tip to clean PC board before installing new parts.
