Dates we were there:    7/4/99

    Kansas was mostly a drive-thru state.  The kids were worried for weeks before the trip that we would get swept away by a tornado but the weather was great and we enjoyed seeing America's heartland up close. 

Cities & Places we visited

    JUNCTION CITY
    Our original plan was to get to Topeka and stop at Lake Shawnee for the fireworks show but we got away from Denver later that we planned.  When we stopped in Junction City to get gas we asked where there might be some fireworks.  We drove a short distance to a lake and sat in and on the car to watch.  It was a fun experience.
    After the fireworks, we drove on to Kansas City, Missouri.
