(eb_photo84) The Oregon Trail and Mormon Trail traveled through here. Also, the Pony Express Trail used this route. The Pony
Express Trail went from Saint Joseph, MO to Sacramento, CA. The end terminal was Hastings Building which still exist in
Old Sacramento of downtown Sacramento. The Pony Express made it possible to deliver a letter from East Coast to West Coast
in 10 days which was unbelievable in those days. The Pony Express only existed 1860-1861. The completion of the transcontinental
railroad made it possible to deliver mail by train and the Pony Express went of business. There were 184 relay stations from Saint Joseph
to Sacramento.
