Machines that make loud buzzing or humming noises are not normal. Most of these noises are either a stuck solenoid (which will certainly burn up), or a continuous-duty solenoid that has a worn armature or unbalanced spring/switch tension. A stuck solenoid can damage itself in just a few seconds. A continuous-duty solenoid that is just buzzing is harmless, but annoying.

As you get used to your machine you will be able to tell what is a normal harmless-type noise and what noises are new and perhaps harmful. Be sure to inform others that play your games, particularly children, to pay attention to these noises so that you will not have serious damage done to your machine should anything go wrong.
