"We never thought we would be able to get a house of our own.
We are excited about our partnership with Habitat. We've had some hard
times. With Habitat we have hope for the future."
Troy and Terri Killion and their four children (Ryan and Eric (8), Trent (5) and Courtney (4) are excited about getting the opportunity to work for a home of their own. Even more exciting is that they plan on moving into their new home in Coalville by Christmas! Habitat for Humanity is about giving families and children hope for a better tomorrow. But please understand, a Habitat home is not a giveaway. What Habitat is extending to the Killion family is not a handout, but instead, an opportunity. That's why every Habitat family is require to: |
* Show need for decent affordable housing. * Qualify for a no-profit, interest freeloan from Habitat for Humanity that they will pay back. This means their mortgage payments go into a revolving fund to build even more house for other local families. * The Killion family will put in 350 hours of "sweat equity" on their own house and the houses of other families in need. By the time the final nail is pounded, the sawdust is swept up, and the paintbrushes are all washed, the Killion family will have invested quite a lot in their new Habitat house. It won't be fancy, but it will be theirs. And with some help from you today, other aspiring families will be able to celebrate the simple joy of living in a safe, decent and affordable Habitat home. But Habitat can't make all this happen without the generous help of caring friends. Habitat has the great tradition of transforming people's lives. Please help. Join today in Habitat's effort to bring more families -- and more children --into a home of their own. |
