There are many factors which can increase your risk of getting Diabetes Type 2. Some of these factors are inherited risk factors, while others are lifestyle risk factors.

Factors You Can Not Change:
1. Do you have a close relative who has developed diabetes?
2. Are you of African American, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islanders, or Native American descent?
3. Are you over 45 years of age?
4. Have you been diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease?
Factors You Can Change:
5. Is your glucose level higher than 110mg/dl fasting or higher than 140mg/dl non-fasting?
6. Is your cholesterol level in unhealthy range?
7. Is your blood pressure higher than 140/90 mmHg?
8. Do you smoke or have you smoked in the past?
9. Are you overweight and/or have a high body fat percentage?
10. Do you maintain at least 30-45 minutes of aerobic activity on most days?
If Female:
11. Are you a woman who has a baby weighing more than nine pounds at birth?
12. During pregnancy, did you experience gestational diabetes?
