Rufus Henry Whitnah was the fourth child of Joseph Henry Whitnah, Jr., but the first child of Joseph by his second wife Margaret. He went by the name of Henry or Harry, and appears in the 1900 Census as Henry R. However, his father's will clearly shows his name as Rufus Henry. Harry was a farmer, one of the first to own land in Oklahoma.

Rufus Henry Whitnah and Mary Waymire are the parents of the following children:
