              Arts-Kids Receives Funding

                from Staples Foundation for Learning
      Arts-Kids,
a non-Profit organization that provides a safe, nurturing, and diverse
environment in which children can express themselves through the arts,
announced today it has received a $5,500 grant from Staples Foundation for
Learning. This grant will support Arts-Kids' after-school programs, which use
the visual arts as the medium by which children learn to express themselves,
communicate more effectively and build their self-esteem. In addition, this
grant will provide scholarships for low-income youth to participate in
        Arts-Kids' summer camp programs.
      With
the assistance of trained facilitators, guest artists guide students in one of
several art mediums: painting, music, dance, clay, storytelling, poetry,
photography. Although children create a "product," the emphasis is
on the process of creation and how youth express themselves.
      "This
grant from Staples Foundation for Learning will enable more children
throughout Summit County to learn awareness and expression, qualities that
will impact their lives, both academically and socially," said Kris Beer,
Executive Director, Arts-Kids. "We look forward to continuing our
programs that empower youth in the community."
      "Arts-Kids'
after-school and summer programs enable youth, especially those who are
underserved, to grow their self-confidence and creativity," said Joy
Errico, spokesperson for Staples Foundation for Learning. "Staples
Foundation for Learning is pleased to support these art programs that make a
positive impact on youth throughout Park City and Summit County."
