Luc, vous avez combien d'enfants dans votre famille? Luc, you have how many children in your family?
On a trois enfants. Deux garçons et une fille. We have three children. Two boys and one girl.
Comment s'appellent-ils? What are there names?
(Lit: How do they call themselves?)
Ma soeur s'appelle Lynette et mon frère s'appelle Steven. My sister is Lynette and my brother is Steven.
(Lit: My sister calls herself Lynette and my brother calls himself Steven.)
Ta soeur, est-ce qu'elle joue des sports? Does your sister play sports?
(Lit: Your sister, is it this that she plays some sports?)
Pas tellement. Elle préfère regarder la télé. Not that much. She prefers to watch t.v.
Ton frère, est-ce qu'il aime des sports? Does your brother like sports?
(Lit: Your brother, is this that he likes some sports?)
Mais oui! Il aime tous les sports mais il préfère le basket! Oh yeah! (Lit: But yes!)
He loves all sports but he prefers basketball!
Il est grand, ton frère? Is your brother tall? (Lit: He is tall, your brother?)
Oui! Il est très grand! Yes! He is very tall!
Il est beau? Is he handsome?
(Lit: He is handsome?)
Très beau! Very handsome!
Hmmm. Puis-je te visiter un jour? Hum. May I visit you some day?
(Lit: May I you visit one day?)
Bien sûr, mon amie!
Tu pourrais rencontrer mes parents aussi!
Of course my friend!
You will be able to meet my parents also!
Tes parents aussi? SUPERBE! Your parents also? SUPER!


So how did you do? I'm sure you did great! However, I'm sure you noticed a few new words such as "ton", "ta", "tes". These words are informal possessive pronouns. Another new word was "votre". This word is a formal possessive pronoun. There are a number of these words. In the next leçon I will show you how all of these words work.
