Rumors:

-Tanks, Bases, and Ships- I heard some bits of information about Tiberian Sun. First The Mammoth tank will be improved to make it the most feared land attack system, however it will be costly. Second In-game animations will be vastly increased to make the game more realistic, ex. smoking power plant ventilators, civilians walking and working around the base, increased to make to game realistic, Infantry will loose limbs to heavy damage "freaks" will grow them back. All Units will have defenses against other units, unlike cruisers which were totally vulnerable to subs and air attacks. The Ion Cannon will now have two forms of attack, the regular ion blast from C&C and a blast that requires a huge charge up time but will be able to destroy 4/5 of the enemies base. There will be a sky crane unit that can transport light to medium vehicles to the battlefield. Lastly the AI will be supposedly "Beefed UP", AI will be alot more strategic, won't attack every five seconds and will be able to handle situations better. Although this sounds bad for the Player, Your units will have AI and common knowledge (won't stand around and watch your base be shreded).

-Another Storyline- Ten years after the bloody war between the Brotherhood of NOD and the Global Defence Iniative, peace has reined throughout the countries that have witnessed the bloody warfare. The UN had disbanded the Global Defence Iniative and General Brigadier Mark Sheppard was transferred to the Pentagon in the U.S. By this time, space travel had been enhanced and colonization of the Earth's moon had begun. The distant planet, Mars, had been far more researched and was now under heavy terraformation. General Mark Sheppard was still skeptical about Kain's death. He still believed that he had been revived somehow or was still alive. For this reason General Mark pieced together the surviving soldiers of the first Tiberium war and created the oranization now known as the Black Wolves. He also gained some acess to some of the GDI vehicles that were first used in the Tiberium war. His Black Wolves had also acessed the new Super Ion Cannon. During the time where GDI was disbanded, Seth, who had been revived by some of Kain's loyalists that were alive, began reviving Kain with newly found and stolen Android technology. He also used some tiberium injections to help bring him back alive also. When Kain finally came alive, looking horribly mutated, he went back into command of the Brotherhood. They soon grew into a huge terrorist organization. As the Brotherhood grew, Kain continued his tests with Tiberium. Then he injected it into some of his own soldiers. Kain also knew that Seth was plotting vengence for shooting him, so Kain chose him and many of his other loyal troops and injected Tiberium into them. They all became horibly mutated by the Tiberium. As soon as many of them noticed themselves, they were horrifyed and escaped the laboratories, including Seth and retreated to an area where Tiberium was so dense, that there was nothing really there. Seth, wanting revenge on Kain, pulled all the soldiers that had Tiberium injected into them together and made his Freak army. Kain then declared war on the UN and the world and brought them all down with his wraith and advanced Tiberium technology. He soon was the world leader and had control of every continent except Antarctica. General Mark and his Black Wolves had not fallen into Kain's wraith and barely escaped his the tiberium fumes his troops threw at them. Almost all of the Black Wolves had retreated to Antarctica. There were a few contacts that were scattered through Australia and South America. General Mark Sheppard had built his Black Wolves up to a sizable force and was preparing to launch a tactical assualt at the southern tip of South America. General Mark did not know that Kain was prepared and waiting for him.

-Dead Units- Unit death - they slowly rot into the ground. If a mech dies, then they stay there and become part of the 'living scenery'.

-Burrowing Units- I heard that you'll be able to make underground burrowing units, like in Dark Reign, but these units creep up on troops and pull them underground Where they're torn into teensie tiny little bloody bits.

-Info from Red Alert Chat-In the chat with the Red Alert designers the question was asked, "Do you know the big cool thing at the end of C&C -- the big guy in the suit. What is it and well will we get it?" And WS replied, "Ahh -- the power suit. That unit is now a joke compared to the stuff that's going to be in C&C2 -- but that's another chat!"

-Allies- You can be allied with the third side if your nice to them but if not they turn against you and join the other side.

-Submarines- There will be units like submarines that will crawl along the bottom. They are supposed to have torpedos that can fire at anything on water, and even if it is moving it will stay om his trail until it (normally) hits. It is also supposed to carry five troops and they will unload anywhere and swim to shore.

-Technology- NOD will have all the high-tech stuff, GDI will have all the RA stuff (use of chronoshift, stolen from NOD).

-Infantry- I heard that you could have infantry scale cliffs and cross rivers. I also heard that minigunners and almost all other infantry units can dig their own foxholes.

-Units- There are at least 2 vehicles I know that can go both on land and on sea. The GDI has this Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV), with missile packs, heavy machine guns and anti-submarine torpedos. The NOD side has the equivalent, but I don't know what it is called. But it appears to be stronger because it has a laser mechanism attached to it. Both these vehicles are very quick and used for special missions, but the player can build them in the last 2 or 3 missions. I think they can pack a punch especially because of their mobility. When it moves across he screen, the laser tower can only get at most one shot at it.

-Scientists and Tech Centers- The scientist in Tiberian Sun is going to be someone like Einstein. That the scientist is called Eu Tak. The scientist is available in 3 to 4 GDI missions, and will not be a plain dummy. Instead, Eu Tak will be a computer technical specialist who, if kept alive long enough for the tech centre to be built, will allow the player to produce some powerful weapons that the "Freaks" use.

-Crusiers and Kamikazies- I read in a magazine that there will be cruisers with the ability to shoot nukes. I also read that you can have kamikazi planes.

-Ice- When a bomb/missle lands on the ice, it will crack and you'r units will fall in.

-Advanced Guard Towers- There will be things like the advanced gaurd tower but it will launch cruse missiles!

-Flamethowers- There will probably me a flamethrower mech in TS. Look on the back of the C&C box where it shows a blown up bridge with a couple of turrets and gun towers? Now look at the bridge and you will see what looks like a flamethrower unit.

-Underwater Tiberium and Mutations- You will be able to harvest tiberium from underwater and that General Shepard and Kane will be horribly mutated due to Tiberium exposure.

-Harvesters, Helicopters, and Kane- Westwood is incororating a hovering harvester. Also, certain weather will be added such as fog, night, storms stuff like that. A new helicopter called the "Raptor" is in the game and does have missles. Also a piece of the stroy line currently is that Kane (you remeber he being crushed in C&C in the temple) is a cyborg and has traveled back in time to retrieve a Soviet army to take over the world (in which he DID... except for antartica).

-Space Stations- There will be orbiting space stations with troops in it that can be flown down in a transporter like in the movie "Aliens".

-Resolution and Fences- The Resolution will be 800x600 insted of 640x480 like in Red Alert. There will also be an electric fence the will shock infantry!!

-Freeze Tank- There is going to be a freeze tank that is the same as the freeze tower but it takes longer to reload.

-Diving Missions- The diver, Skaboo, can not be build, but will be appointed to you in some missions. (Like Tanya in RA.)

-Airplanes- Aircraft will be able to land in black-territory. (the pieces of the map that you haven`t discovered yet.) But if the landing-site you selected is located in the mountains or a swamp, the aircraft will crash.

-Night Missions- There will in fact be night missions. When playing these missions, the map will not be totally black, but some kind of "glowy-green" like in Duke3D when you turn on the night vission. You can`t see enemy units unless their in sight of one of your buildings/units. This sight is, just as in TD and RA, different for each unit. (A TD example: A Humm-vee has a wider sight then a minigunner.

-Avalanches- If you shoot a pile of snow on a mountain you will create a avalanche.

-Release Pushed Up- As you might have heard, It`s not going so well with Virgin Interactive Entertainment (VIE), the "parent-company" of Westwood Studios. In short: They are low on cash. (hehe) So Westwood CEO Brett W. Sperry was put in charge and he was ordered to make money. So he cut some budgets, ended some projects and forced some developpers to release their games ASAP. Eg. Revolution was ordered to have the sequel to Broken Sword (The smoking mirror) ready for a release in October and (here`s the big one!) Westwood had to finish Tiberian Sun earlier then originally planned. So from what I heard, I understand that Westwood is aiming on a release somewhere in the first 2 months of 1998. Not Autumn 1998, nor spring 1998, no January or February 1998! Still. This is just what I heard. (The source is trustworthy, though).

-Terrian Editor- There will definatly be a good editor. It will also allow you to make missions.
