In-person UARC Meeting at the U
on Thursday
January 9, 2025:

Rocky Mountain HAM microwave backbone

 with William Schreuder, AC0KQ

This presentation will cover the design, implementation and application of the RMHAM microwave backbone which extends across Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.  The network is based on standard Internet Protocol (IP) technologies to connect about 250 sites using primarily microwave links operating in the 5GHz amateur and ISM bands.  Using IP technology allows multiple redundant paths to each site as well as monitoring and control of devices at each site.  Repeaters are linked using AllStarLink for analog repeaters, while digital systems such as DMR, P25, dStar and Fusion natively support digital linking.  RMHAM netops manages the network, and provides support for various cooperating clubs to allow for dynamic reconfiguration of linked repeater systems.

Note that at the last meeting on December 12th,
vote was for no changes to the UARC board;
All officers were retained, as presently constituted.

The meeting starts at 7:30 pm and will be available on UARC's YouTube Channel, live and for later playback.

The meeting before the meeting has moved! We are now meeting for dinner at 17:30, at "The Other Place" (a restaurant), at 469 E 300 S in Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Parking in the rear, entrance off of 5th East.

UARC in-person meetings are held at the University of Utah. The meeting room is #2230 in Warnock Engineering Building - although that is subject to change, so keep an eye on this space.   To get to room 2230: If you enter the glass doors on the east side of the building, it is most of the way down the hall and up at the top of the stairs to the right.

For directions on how to get to the meeting location at the University of Utah, including elevator access - and to see a map showing the parking lot north of Merrill Engineering Building which you can SAFELY park in without getting a ticket - go to the "Directions to the Meeting" page - link.
