Next UARC Meeting: 14 March 2024

In the March 2024 club meeting, Noji Ratzlaff KNØJI will reproduce Hertz's experiment before our very eyes, and what he did to verify a few of Maxwell's ideas, as spelled out by his famous equations. You can read more about Hertz in this short summary. The presentation PPT can be downloaded from this link.

Other short and related biographies of note include those of

  • Oliver Heaviside
Refined Maxwell's equations, discovered the ionosphere, discovered gravity waves, invented coaxial cable
  • Michael Faraday
Electromagnetic induction, electrolysis, rotating magnetic field, discovered benzene
  • Hans Christian Oersted
Discovered the connection between electricity and magnetism

The club meeting will be held on the second Thursday of March, which is 14 March 2024 (which also, by the way, is π Day and Einstein's birthday!) The meeting starts at 7:30 pm and will be available on UARC's YouTube Channel, live and for later playback.

The in-person meeting room scheduled for the next few months is #2230 - although that is subject to change, so keep an eye on this space.   To get to room 2230: If you enter the glass doors on the east side of the building, it is most of the way down the hall and up at the top of the stairs to the right.

For directions on how to get to the meeting, including elevator access - and to find out which parking lots you can SAFELY park in without getting a ticket - go to the "Directions to the Meeting" page - link.
