What is Chassis ? Open Frame - Closed Frame - Rack mount
 
    The IBM PC compatible computer has become increasingly popular over the past few years. Thousands of software packages, significant operating systems, and many add-on devices are available to PC and compatible users. From an industrial standpoint, however, they have the following disadvantages.

    The PC is designed for commercial use in home and office environments.
    The PC is too large for many industrial applications.
    The PC does not use backplane technology. The CPU and adapter slots are part of one large motherboard making it necessary to replace the entire assembly to upgrade the CPU.

    Acqutek's Industrial Control products are designed to overcome these limitations and provide a convenient way to solve industrial control needs using backplane technology (allowing processors and memory to be changed like adapter cards). The CPU cards offer a modular computer capability that is easily up/down-gradable. By simply plugging a CPU card into a passive backplane, one has a fully functional computer with options that a user can change instantly. Acqutek's Chassises are based on the ISA and PCI bus structure. The cards vary in type and number of slot.
